Skills for Life Providers are:

  • Colleges
  • Independent organisations, including private Training Providers
  • Adult & Community Learning Centres
  • Voluntary and community groups

They teach adults literacy, numeracy and ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages).

Some Providers also offer training for SfL practitioners at Levels 2, 3 & 4.

 Learning Skills Improvement Service banner

The Learning and Skills Improvement Service offers The Skills for Life Improvement Programme which aims to help you and your organisation improve learner success through a whole organisation approach to embedding literacy, language and numeracy. Now in its third year the Improvement Programme builds on the successes of the previous years and is focused where support is most needed and on numeracy. 

Excellence Gateway

The Excellence Gateway is now hosting the adult core curriculum in literacy, numeracy, ESOL and the pre-entry curriculum framework.

The Government funded  "Tools Library" assessment tools are now available on the Excellence Gateway website  and can be downloaded here.

 

Family Literacy, Language and Numeracy (FLLN)

Support for FLIF/FLLN beyond August 2009

A new Skills for Life programme, the Skills for Life Support Programme, will be launched at the beginning of September and  the new contract will encompass the Family Literacy, Language and Numeracy development activity.  Providers wishing to find out more about support from September are advised in the meantime to contact Kelly Shanmugam or Faye Brown at LSIS.
