Skills for Life South West

Farewell from the South West Skills for Life Unit!

Although we have been extremely successful in exceeding the 2010 targets, the long-term ambitions to achieve at least functional levels of literacy and numeracy skills in 95% of adults by 2020 are an enormous challenge. The breadth of this challenge will require a major shift in our approach: away from discrete initiatives, to complete embedding across every area of work that supports the development of all types of skill in all adults.

The Skills for Life Unit for the South West has now been absorbed into the wider responsibilities of the new Skills Funding AgencyJohn Tempest as Head of Learner Services will retain responsibility at a strategic level.  Other staff will now work across broader areas of skills and employer support.
